Perhaps one of the most important reasons for Porn Studies is the very topicality of pornography; we believe it is the right time to launch this journal because the subject is so politically and emotionally charged. Pornography has a public presenceas an object of concern and as a metaphor used to designate the boundaries of thepublic space. Porn Studies will focus on pornography as an area deserving of study in its own right. It will develop knowledge of pornographies past and present, in all their variations and around the world – their histories, modes, aesthetics, genres andsubgenres; their institutional and industrial structures; and their consumption and their regulation.Perfekt att den kommer nu precis innan spring break. Jag ser mig själv intill en pool någonstans med någon av artiklarna -- Martin Baker's "The 'Problem' of Sexual Fantasies" eller Susanna Paasonens "Between meaning and mattering" eller Linda Williams "Pornography, porno, porn: thoughts on a weedy field".
Vad som är bra med en tidskrift -- förutom att den erbjuder en rad artiklar som är gediget kunniga -- är att fältet definieras och får en viss soliditet, vissa konturer. Det konsolideras, kan man säga.
Nu skall jag alldeles strax träffa en doktorand här som ville att jag skulle läsa en text hon hade skrivit, om sexualitet på Internet i Kina.
